Over the next few weeks, SHUpirates.com will conduct a question and answer session with each of Seton Hall's senior women's golfers. Today, we catch up with Haley Van Es (Granger, Ind.).
1. What are you most proud of in your athletic career here at Seton Hall?
As a student athlete, I am most proud of my academic accomplishments during my three and a half years here at Seton Hall. As a freshman, it is difficult to adjust to the demanding schedule and as time has passed I have learned how to utilize my time to best balance my academic responsibilities with my athletic commitments.
2. Tell us about some of your best memories over the past three and a half years as a student-athlete.
Most of my memories include those that I have made with my friends and my team. I have been lucky enough to be able to travel the country playing golf, and the most special experiences I've had are not always the big things, but the small things that have made my friendships with my team and others grow stronger over the years.
3. Looking back, what was your favorite class that you have taken?
I am a Public Relations major, and my second semester, junior year, I had to take an intense Public Relations class and develop a campaign to be used by a real life client. It took up all of my time and I was miserable the entire semester, but the feeling I had when it was all completed was unbelievable.
4. Looking forward to your last semester here at Seton Hall, what are you most looking forward to in the spring season?
I am most looking forward to the memories that I will be making with my team my last semester. They have made my college experience unforgettable, and I am so excited to see what the spring has in store for us.
5. If you could step back to the fall of 2010, what advice would you give to your freshman self?
I would tell myself that these are going to be the best four years of your life, but also the most challenging. It's not an easy process to find who you are and where you belong, but once you do it's definitely worth it.
6. What are your plans after you graduate?
Hopefully I will be continuing my education at Seton Hall University School of Law and staying in the NYC area.
