CRYSTAL RIVER, FLA. - Junior Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) fired a 3-over-par, 75, to pace the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third place standing following round one of the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational at Plantation Inn.
Kruse is currently tied for 10th among 88 individual golfers and trails a pair of leaders by three strokes.
Collectively, the Pirates are also in good shape following round one. Seton Hall shot a 20-over-par, 308, and trail the team leader, Lynn University, by only five strokes entering Saturday's second round.
Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) is currently just one stroke behind Kruse for the team lead following her 4-over-par, 76, on Friday. She's currently tied for 15th overall. Teammate Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) is tied for 18th place overall and is only one stroke behind Zabrosky after a 5-over-par, 77.
Senior Hannah Basalone (Brea, Calif.) is currently tied for 36th place following an 8-over-par, 80. Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) is tied for 44th place after a 9-over-par, 81, and McKenzie Cutter (Waldorf, Md.) is tied for 60th place after an 11-over-par, 83.
Fifteen teams are competing on Plantation Inn's par-72, 6,054-yard course for three rounds over three days. In addition to Seton Hall and host Cincinnati, participating schools include: Bradley, Embry Riddle, Florida Atlantic, Florida Southern, Jacksonville University, Lynn University, Memphis, North Dakota State, Seminole State, Southern Mississippi, University of Tampa, UAB- Birmingham and UT- Pan Am.
