BEALLSVILLE, MD. - The Seton Hall women's golf team will continue spring play with the 2014 Hoya Women's Invitational at The Members Club at Four Streams, March 31 - April 1.
Sixteen teams will be playing three rounds of golf over two days, with the first two rounds being played on Monday. The field will compete on a par-72, 6,127 course. Schools joining Seton Hall and host Georgetown include: Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Illinois State, Lehigh, Marshall, Michigan, Navy, Nova Southeastern, Penn, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Wagner, Yale and Youngstown State.
Last spring, Seton Hall placed third among a field of 14 teams with a 54-over-par, 305-310-303-918. Campbell University won the team title at 30-over-par, while Yale finished second at 43-over-par. Hannah Basalone (Brea, Calif) was the top Pirate finisher with a 7-over-par, 73-76-74-223, to finish sixth among all individual golfers.
"We had a good showing here last year," said Head Coach Sara Doell. "It's a course that we know well and we'll look to use the momentum gained by a good effort last week at Plantation towards a strong performance this week."
Seton Hall is coming off a third place finish among 14 teams at the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational at Plantation Inn in Crystal Lake, Fla. Junior Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) started the spring with a bang, placing second among 88 individual golfers and shooting a program record-low score, 68, in the event's third round.
