TOURNAMENT LEADER BOARDS - First Round![]()
BEALLSVILLE, MD. - Amid wet and windy conditions, the Seton Hall women's golf team is currently in fifth place among 16 teams following round one of the 2014 Hoya Women's Invitational.
The Pirates fired a 37-over-par, 325, in round one and trail the team leaders, Pennsylvania, by 16 strokes. Two other BIG EAST teams are a part of the talented field. St. John's is only three strokes ahead of Seton Hall in fourth place, while Georgetown is 11 strokes behind the Pirates in ninth place.
Sophomore Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) is leading Seton Hall following her 6-over-par, 78, in round one. Tenhundfeld is tied for seventh among 86 individual golfers and trails the individual leader, Penn's Amanda Chin, by four strokes.
Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Hannah Basalone (Brea, Calif.) are only one stroke behind Tenhundfeld following their 7-over-par, 79's. They are tied for 12th place overall. Basalone is competing as an individual.
Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) and McKenzie Cutter (Waldorf, Md.) each fired a 12-over-par, 84, in round one. Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) is 15-over-par with a first round 87.
"Obviously, the team isn't pleased with shooting a 325, but given the course conditions and the fact that we didn't have a practice round, I'm happy with their effort," said Head Coach Sara Doell. "You'll see better numbers in round two."
Sixteen teams are playing two rounds of golf over two days, which was reduced due to poor weather conditions. The field is competing on a par-72, 6,127 course. Schools joining Seton Hall and host Georgetown include: Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Illinois State, Lehigh, Marshall, Michigan, Navy, Nova Southeastern, Penn, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Wagner, Yale and Youngstown State.
Results will be available at SHUpirates.com following each round's completion.
