WGolf Off-Season Q&A: Megan Tenhundfeld
1/27/2015 12:00:00 AM | Women's Golf
Junior Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) maintained a 77.27 stroke average through four tournaments this fall. Her best performance was a third place tie at the St. John's Invitational, a tournament the Pirates won as a team. Tenhundfeld shot a 9-over-par, 77-74-151. She also had an impressive 15th place tie at the highly competitive Yale Intercollegiate with a 13-over-par, 78-74-74-226.
Coach Doell's thoughts on Megan:
"Megan has been a big part of this team's success. Despite missing the line up for the first few events of the fall, Megan worked diligently and made her way back into the Top 5. Her 3rd place finish at St. John's was key in helping lead our team to a win. She is a great ball striker and is very consistent off the tee as she averaged over 10 fairways per round this fall. The area that we will work to improve this winter is her putting. While she has a great putting stroke, she lacks some confidence on the green. When she gets her putter going, she can post some very low numbers. I look forward to seeing her game evolve this spring."
1. What were the main factors guiding your decision to attend Seton Hall and compete for the Pirates?
The team and Seton Hall Athletics as a whole were a huge factor in making my decision to play golf for SHU. The team seemed like a group that I would fit in with and all of the athletics staff made me feel at home. The support given to student athletes at Seton Hall through academics, training, and through the HALL Program is something that other schools don't have.
2. What are some of your best experiences at Seton Hall, to date?
Winning the Big East Championship in 2014 as a team was by far my favorite experience at Seton Hall. I was fortunate enough to place second individually, as well. Being able to compete at Regionals with many other top teams in the nation was an experience like no other. The opportunities given to SHU athletes are numerous and have made my time as a Seton Hall athlete very memorable.
3. What are you most proud of in your athletic career?
I would say placing second at the Big East Championship.
4. What are you studying and why did you decide to choose that major?
I am double majoring in Accounting and Finance, with plans to take the CPA exam after graduation. I have accepted an offer to intern at Ernst & Young in the summer of 2015 and look forward to gaining experience in the accounting field.
5. What three words would you use to describe yourself as a student-athlete?
Organized, Dedicated, and Driven
6. What three words would you use to describe your team?
Team-oriented, motivated, and caring
7. If you could go back to your freshman self, what advice would you give yourself?
Take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities given to you as a Seton Hall student athlete. Whether it be working hard in the classroom, on the golf course, or in the weight room, it will pay off. Slacking in any area will make it harder in the future.
