CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) and sophomore Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team as announced by the conference on Thursday.
Tenhundfeld receives the prestigious honor for a second time, joining former Pirate Ali Kruse as the only two-time All-BIG EAST selections. A BIG EAST Academic All-Star, she led the Pirates with a 77.52 stroke average for the 2015-16 year. A starter in all 10 tournaments this year, Tenhundfeld registered two top-10 finishes, including an impressive second place tie at the Bucknell Invitational last fall. Earlier this spring, she tied for ninth with a year-best 9-over-par, 76-77-153 at the Low Country Intercollegiate. Every one of her rounds this year have contributed to the Pirates' team score.
Pantelas, a first-time honoree, ranked second on the Pirates with a stroke average of 78.19. A BIG EAST Academic All-Star, she also notched two top-10 finishes this year, including an eighth place tie at the Hoya Invitational two weeks ago. Pantelas' low tournament for the year was a 7-over-par, 79-72-72-223 at the William & Mary Invitational last fall. Like Tenhundfeld, every one of her rounds this year have contributed to the team score.
Tenhundfeld, Pantelas and the rest of the Pirates will attempt to defend their two-time BIG EAST Championship this weekend in Callawassie Island, S.C.
