4/23/2017 9:22:00 PM | Baseball
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) allowed one run over 6.1 dazzling innings as the Seton Hall baseball team downed Georgetown, 10-5, on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep of the series.
For the third straight game in the series, the Pirates offense generated runs early and often as they took the lead from the start and never looked back. With one out in the bottom of the first inning, junior Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) singled, and Al Molina (Freehold, N.J.) doubled to left field to drive in Ramiz with the game's first run. Freshman Matt Toke (Three Bridges, N.J.) then tripled to left-center field to give The Hall a 2-0 led.
With the Pirates leading, 3-0, they broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth inning. Georgetown pitchers walked the first three batters, and both an error and a wild pitch produced the first two Pirate runs of the inning. After another Georgetown error, Molina singled to center field to drive in two more Pirate runs. With two outs, Matt Fortin (Nashua, N.H.) doubled to center field to produce the fifth Seton Hall run of the inning and give them a commanding 9-0 advantage.
