SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Mikael-Ali Mogues (New York, N.Y.) drove in three runs and junior Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) reached base four times as the Seton Hall baseball team defeated Wagner, 9-2, on Wednesday.
Seton Hall (14-12) wasted little time in getting their offense started, scoring the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning. Mogues doubled down the right field line, scoring Ramiz. In the bottom of the third inning, Ramiz led off with a triple, and Mogues followed with a sacrifice fly. Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) singled with one out, and scored the Pirates' third run on a double by Mike Caputo (Morganville, N.J.).
After Wagner cut the Pirate lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth, the Pirates broke the game open with a four-spot in the bottom of the inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Wagner walked in a run and hit a batter to extend the Pirates' lead to 5-1. A ground ball by Caputo scored Ramiz, and Mogues followed him home when a throw to first base on a double-play attempt sailed wide.
