Ramiz Excels, But Pirates Fall to Missouri State
3/17/2018 7:05:00 PM | Baseball
Missouri State wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard. With one out in the bottom of the first inning, the Bears' Jeremy Eierman hit a solo home run over the center field fence to put Missouri State on top, 1-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Missouri State took advantage of the Pirates' lack of control. Seton Hall starter Andrew Politi (Long Valley, N.J.) issued a walk and allowed a single, before handing the ball to reliever Blake Espinal (Bronx, N.Y.). Espinal hit a batter to load the bases with no outs, and then walked in two runs sandwiched around a strikeout, to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. He gave way for freshman Ryan McLinskey (Pearl River, N.Y.), who promptly stranded three base-runners by getting a pop out and a strikeout to retire the side.
Trailing 6-0, sophomore Christian Del Castillo (Miami, Fla.) drove in the Pirates' first run in the top of the sixth inning with a two-out RBI single.
Missouri State tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a commanding 10-1 advantage.
