The game began on Friday, but was suspended with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning because of heavy rain with Seton Hall leading, 8-7. The teams picked up where they left off on Saturday with the Rainbow Warriors rallying for a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game, and eventually force extra innings.
Molina led off the top of the 11th with a double to left field, and advanced to third on a single by Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.). Junior Sebastiano Santorelli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) then grounded into a double play, but Molina came in to score the go-ahead run.
Leon picked up the victory with three perfect innings, entering the game to begin the bottom of the ninth, and tossing three straight 1-2-3 frames.
Hawaii struck for five runs off Seton Hall starter Shane McCarthy (Fair Haven, N.J.) in the bottom of the first inning, but the senior settled in nicely thereafter as the Pirates methodically battled back from 5-2 deficit.
In the fifth inning, both teams scored a single run, so The Hall took a 6-3 deficit into the top of the sixth inning.
The Pirates proceeded to send nine men to the plate, and scored five runs on five hits to take an 8-6 advantage. The rally was started by a solo home run over the left field fence by freshman Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.Y.). Three of the next four batters singled. Runs driven in by a Hawaii error plus RBIs from Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.), Santorelli and Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) put the Pirates in front by two runs.
The Rainbow Warriors struck back with a two-out run in the bottom of the sixth, but with an out in the bottom of the seventh, the rains came with the Pirates leading 8-7.
