Pirates's 16 conference wins are the most of any BIG EAST team

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall baseball team wraps up its regular season this week when the Pirates travel to Connecticut to rekindle an old BIG EAST rivalry with a four-game series that begins on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Pirates and Huskies are two of four teams that will compete in the BIG EAST Championship next weekend at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
The Pirates (16-7 BIG EAST, .696) and the Huskies (9-4 BIG EAST, .692) currently rank second and third in the BIG EAST, respectively.
Seton Hall's 16 BIG EAST wins are the most in the conference.
The Pirates are 9-1 in seven inning games this season.
Seton Hall leads the all-time with UConn, 46-37, and the last time the two teams met was a three-game series in South Orange in March 2017.
The Pirates are coming off of a split with Creighton last weekend where junior David Festa (Verona, N.J.) tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, earning him BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week Honors.
Senior Jerry Huntzinger (Staten Island, N.Y.) leads the BIG EAST and ranks 11th in the country with 24 stolen bases.
As a team, the Pirates lead the BIG EAST and rank 27th in the nation with 70 stolen bases.
Huntzinger (24), redshirt freshman Will Gale (15) and senior Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (14) each rank in the top three in the conference stolen bags.
Gale leads The Hall with a .400 batting average in conference play.
Huntzinger ranks second in the BIG EAST with 50 hits and graduate student Matt Toke ranks fourth with 45.
Graduate student Connor Hood battled back from an offseason injury and has returned earlier than expected to hit .328 in BIG EAST play.
Seton Hall ranks in the top three in the BIG EAST in hitting (3rd, .272), pitching (1st, 3.77 ERA) and fielding (2nd, .974).
The Pirates' team ERA ranks 26th in the nation while their 42 sacrifice bunts ranks sixth in Division I.
