Dana hits his 24th career home run to move solely into 10th all-time

STORRS, Conn. – Senior Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.J) hit his seventh home run of the season and the 24th of his career in the Seton Hall baseball team's 11-4 loss to Connecticut in the first game of a four-game set on Thursday evening.

Dana now moves into sole possession of 10^th place on the program's all-time home run list. Redshirt freshman Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) knocked in a run on an RBI triple for the Pirates (23-20, 16-8 BIG EAST).

The Huskies got on the board first in the bottom of the second on a solo home run. Starter Ryan McLinskey (Pearl River, N.Y.) worked out of jams in the third and fourth innings that set the stage for the top of the fifth.

With runners on second and third and no one out, junior Steve Grober (Hillsborough, N.J.) chopped a grounder to the second baseman that gave graduate student Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) enough time to break for home, tying the game up at 1-1. Gale was the next batter and he drove the ball to the gap in right center field that plated senior Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) and gave the Pirates the lead, 2-1.

Both teams then went back and forth as UConn regained the lead with two runs in the home half of the fifth before Dana's two-run home run in the top of the sixth put Seton Hall back in front, 4-3. A four-run sixth for the Huskies put them back in front for good as they claimed the series opener.
