Seton Hall looks to salvage the final game of the series tomorrow

STORRS, Conn. – The Seton Hall baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Connecticut on Friday – 15-1 in game one and 12-4 in game two.

Junior Justin Scotto (Tinton Falls, N.J.) had two hits – including his second home run of the season – and scored twice over the two games. Seton Hall falls to 16-10 in the BIG EAST with the two defeats.

In the top of the sixth of game one, Scotto led off the frame with a single to right center. Another base hit off the bat of senior Jerry Huntzinger (Staten Island, N.Y.) moved him to second. After a fly out moved both runners up a base, a groundout by senior Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.Y.) plated Scotto to give the Pirates their lone run of the game.

Seton Hall had their chances in game two where it fell behind early but came back to make it a one-run game. The top of the fourth started with consecutive base hits by Dana and graduate student Matt Toke (Three Bridges, N.J.). Graduate student Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) drove in Dana on a double to left field and senior Collin Sheehan (Doylestown, Pa.) followed with an RBI groundout. With Hood now on third with two outs, junior Alex Clyde (Old Tappan, N.J.) sent him home on a single to center that made it 4-3 UConn.

Despite starter Joe Cinnella (Mahwah, N.J.) retiring the side in the home half, the Huskies put up two runs in the fifth and six runs to sixth to take control of the game. Scotto hit his second home run of the season in the top of the eighth but it wouldn't be enough to spark a rally.
