Milewski is just the third Pirate this century to hit double-digit home runs, joining Alfie Critelli who hit 14 home runs in 2000 and Staus Pokrovsky who slugged 11 roundtrippers in 2023. Aiden Robbins went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, giving him his 10th three-hit game of the season. Reich struck out five and allowed two runs in five innings and Downing fanned a career-high seven batters in four innings of relief.
How It Happened
Seton Hall once again started off hot offensively. Robbins led off the game with a single before advancing to second base on a wild pitch and scoring on double by AJ Soldra. With two outs, Milewski sent a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall hat extended the Pirates' lead to 2-0.
After Reich tossed a scoreless first inning, the Huskies got on the board with an RBI single that put the score at 2-1 in favor of Seton Hall. More runs were generated thanks to Robbins who led off the top of the third with a double to right center field. He advanced to third base on Soldra's second hit of the day which was a base hit through the left side. An RBI groundout by Jimmy Brennan plated Robbins and pushed The Hall's lead back to two, 3-1.
Reich continued to work around trouble as he left a runner stranded in the home half of the third but the Huskies were able to get a run back in the fourth on a solo home run that made it a one-run game, 3-2. A scoreless fifth for UConn got the ball to Downing in the sixth who punched out the first two batters he faced before allowing a base hit and later picking off the runner to end the inning. After Milewski's second home run of the game in the top of the seventh that made it 4-2 Seton Hall, Downing evaded trouble in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings by stranding three runners. However, UConn came to live in the bottom of the ninth inning as it plated two runs to tie the score up at 4-4 before walking off with a 5-4 win in the bottom of the 10th.
