Del Castillo reached base three times, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and a career-high three RBIs.
McCarthy tossed a season-high seven innings, and didn't allow an earned run. He also struck out four and walked only one to pick up his first victory of the season.
Turning Point:
Seton Hall got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second inning. With one out and Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) on first base, Del Castillo launched his first career home run over the right field fence to give The Hall a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Pirates' offense went back to work. Senior Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) led off with a double down the left field line, Ramiz walked, and freshman Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.Y.) reached on an error to load the bases with no outs. Del Castillo and Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) followed with back-to-back singles, each driving in a single run, to put the Pirates up, 4-0. Senior Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) then doubled off the wall in left-center field to drive in two more runs and extend The Hall's lead to 6-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, a two-out RBI single by Dana, plated the Pirates' seven run.
Oklahoma State scored four unearned runs off of McCarthy in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the Pirates' lead to 7-4, but the senior was able to limit the damage. Both teams scored three runs late.
