
Fouratt Leads Hall in Sugar Bowl's Second Round

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Junior Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) shot a 4-over-par, 76, to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team in round two of the 2021 All-State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on Monday. As a team, the Pirates are currently in 11th place.

Fouratt had 12 pars to fuel her team-best second round and is now the team leader for the tournament. Currently, she is tied for 18th place among 81 individual golfers with a 9-over-par, 77-76-153.  Fouratt trails a pair of individual leaders, Texas State's Marine Griffaut and Nebraska's Kate Smith, who are both 1-over-par through two rounds.

Collectively, The Hall slipped four spots in the team standings, finishing with a 28-over-par, 316, in round two. Through 36 holes, the Pirates are 50-over-par with a 310-316-626. They trail the team leader, Texas State by 32 strokes entering Tuesday's final round.

Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) finished just one stroke behind Fouratt on Monday. She was even-par on the front nine and finished with a 5-over-par, 77. Through two rounds, she is tied for 44th place with a 13-over-par, 80-77-157. One if the players tied with Sager is teammate Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio). The graduate shot a 9-over-par, 81, on Monday, and is also 13-over-par for the tournament with a 76-81-157.

After a tough start, senior Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) finished strong. She was only 2-over-par on the back nine, but ultimately settled for a 10-over-par, 82, in round two. Through two days, Kness is 15-over-par with a 77-82-159.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup is sophomore Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy), who was even-par through eight holes, but had a difficult time on the par-4, No. 9 hole. She finished her second round with an 11-over-par, 83. For the tournament, she is 24-over-par with an 85-83-168.

Freshman Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy), competing as an individual, shot a 13-over-par, 85, in the second round. Through 36 holes, she is 20-over-par with a 79-85-164.

The Signature Course at English Turn was originally designed in 1988 for the New Orleans PGA Tour event, which was held at the facility until 2004 and in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina. The Inaugural event was the USF and G Classic in 1989 and the course proved to be a challenge for the PGA Tour with notoriously undulating greens, water in play on seventeen of the eighteen holes and the signature fifteenth Island Green. In Addition, the 18th Hole had been ranked the hardest hole on tour many times during the tournament tenure.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Tulane, the field features 11 other teams including: Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, Louisiana-Monroe, Loyola, McNeese State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Southern Mississippi, Southern Methodist, Texas State and Wisconsin.

TEE TIMES:
The field will play one round (18 holes) each day. Competition will begin with tee times off the first and 10th holes beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The Pirates will tee off at 10:04 a.m. and 10:12 a.m. on Sunday to begin the tournament. Due to COVID-19 protocols, golfers will be paired only with competitors from their own team.
