
Maddie Klungel Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Pirate setter was named MVP of the Temple Invitational last weekend.
NEW YORK –Seton Hall's Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

Playing in her first matches as a Pirate, Klungel was an offensive force for The Hall at the Temple Invitational last weekend. The sophomore transfer from Cal State Northridge filled up the box score in route to being named tournament Most Valuable Player. Against Temple on Friday, she collected a career-high 38 assists to go with five digs, four kills, three service aces and two blocks in the Pirates three-set sweep. On Saturday, she had 30 assists, seven digs, five kills and two blocks.

Klungel averaged 9.71 assists per set over the weekend as the Pirates started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2012.

Creighton's Norah Sis was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Marquette's Carly Skrabak earned Defensive Player of the Week. St. John's Magda Stambrowska earned Freshman of the Week honors. Joining Klungel on the Weekly Honor Roll are Butler's Jaymeson Kinley, Providence's Kayla Grant, St. John's Rachele Rastelli and Xavier's Carrigan O'Reilly.

Seton Hall will return to action tomorrow when it hosts Hofstra in its 2022 home opener at Walsh Gym. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
