
Pirates Sweep Stonehill in Dartmouth Invite Finale

HANOVER, N.H. – Bianca Bucciarelli (Carate Brianza, Italy) and Jenna Walsh (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) had 10 kills apiece as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team swept Stonehill, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-16), in the Dartmouth Invitational finale on Saturday.

The Pirates improve to 6-3 on the season after going 1-2 at the Dartmouth Invitational.

Both Bucciarelli and Walsh had 10 kills and only three attack errors apiece. Walsh added five digs and two aces, while Bucciarelli had eight digs. Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) also had a strong offensive match with seven kills, no attack errors and a .636 attack percentage.

Setter Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) again flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 14 assists, seven digs and five kills. Taylor Jakubowski (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) had a team-best 21 assists and three service aces.

SET 1:
With the score tied at four, the Pirates scored five straight to jump ahead 9-4. Leading 14-9, the Pirates took off again with an 8-2 run. A kill by Walsh gave The Hall a 22-11 advantage. Ahead 23-13, a kill by Laila Wallace (Munster, Ind.) put The Hall in set point, and another by Mackenzie Yoakum (Birmingham, Ala.) gave it a 25-14 first-set victory. Seton Hall had an impressive .438 attack percentage in the opening stanza.

SET 2:
Seton Hall never trailed in the second set, jumping out to a 6-2 lead. A kill by Walsh gave The Hall a 16-12 advantage, but Stonehill responded with three straight points to cut their deficit to only one point. An ace by Anna Holland (Waukesha, Wis.) gave The Hall a 22-17 lead and sent Stonehill to a timeout. Out of the break, the Skyhawks scored twice, but the Pirates ended the set with three straight points, a kill by Hanna Tulli (Collegeville, Pa.), an ace by Klungel and a kill by Bucciarelli.

Leading 8-6, The Hall went on a 7-2 run, and a block by Tulli and Lucas gave it a commanding 15-8 advantage. A kill by Yoakum put the Pirates up, 21-12, and they went on to cruise to a 25-16 victory. The Hall attacked at a match-high .462 clip in set three, compared to just .045 for Stonehill.

The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, September 16 when it travels to No. 12 Penn State. The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on B1G+.
