Women's Soccer Opens Season At Virginia Tech

Seventh-year head coach Betty Ann Kempf returns eight starters from last year's team which went 11-9 and reached the BIG EAST Semifinals. Gone from that squad is standout Kelly Smith, the NCAA career scoring leader in goals and points per game, who will serve as the Pirates' assistant coach this season.
Leading the returning players for Seton Hall are co-captains Jaimie Silva (Brick, NJ) and Brigid Sullivan (Philadelphia, PA), along with All-Conference performer Frauke Dittel (Hannover, Germany), goalkeeper Leah Miller (Harrison, OH) and senior midfielder Michele Phalen (Somerset, NJ).
Kempf has a solid group of newcomers joining the 2000 Pirates, including Whitney Dula (Sparta, NJ), Jocelyn Dumaresq (Harrisburg, PA) and Nadine Ruddock (Leeds, England).
The Pirates open the home season at Owen T. Carroll Field on Tuesday, August 29, against St. Peter's at 3 p.m.
