The teams battled in a scoreless contest until Princeton was awarded the penalty kick when a Seton Hall defender committed a foul in the box. Deerin put the the shot past Pirate goalkeeper Leah Miller (Harrison, OH) to provide the gamewinning goal.
Seton Hall was outshot, 17-5, but had a few solid scoring chances in the second half. Dana Sheffer (Newtown, PA) had a high 18-yard shot with 11 minutes to play which was grabbed by Tiger goalkeeper Jordan Rettig.
Miller made seven saves for Seton Hall, returning to the starting lineup after leaving the La Salle match with a lower back injury.
Seton Hall travels to the William & Mary Tournament next weekend. The Pirates take on William & Mary on Friday, September 15 and then face Old Dominion on Sunday, September 17.
