LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- The Seton Hall women's soccer team fell to Louisville, 5-1, Friday evening at Cardinal Park. The loss puts the Pirates record at 7-7-3, and 3-6-1 in the BIG EAST, while the Cardinals improve to 11-6-0, and 6-4-0 in BIG EAST play. Senior Oriana Nierojewski (Burlington, Ontario) scored the lone goal for the Pirates.
Although Louisville scored the first goal 12 minutes into play off a Jamie Craft goal, Nierojewski knocked one in for Seton Hall seven minutes later when she scored off the rebound of a Kathy De Tata (Brick, N.J.) shot to even the score at one. The Cardinals regained the lead a minute later when Mallory Lampson snuck one into the back of the net for the Cardinals. The Cardinals added one more goal by the end of the first half by Monique Gjini to go up 3-1.
Gjini scored two more goals in the second half to seal the game for the Cardinals, and . She led the Cardinals with three goals.
The Pirates were out-shot 19-11. Seton Hall sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Becker (Aston, Pa.) posted eight saves for the Pirates.
The Pirates will face Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Gettler Stadium in their final regular season game. Kickoff is set for Noon.
