
Women's Soccer Announces 2007 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Seton Hall has announced its 2007 women’s soccer schedule. Coming off a 7-10-2 record in 2006, which included a trip to the BIG EAST Championship for the first time since 2000, the team looks for success in the new era of Pirate soccer under the direction of new head coach Kazbek Tambi. The Pirates will host eight regular season games along with two scrimmages, and will travel to 10 away contests. The schedule features a game against nationally ranked Notre Dame, in addition to two night games held on the newly renovated Owen T. Carroll field.
Seton Hall opens up its regular season at the Villanova Tournament on Friday, Aug. 31 against Virginia Commonwealth. The Pirates will play Lafayette on Sunday, Sept. 2, in the second game of the tournament. On Sept. 5, Seton Hall will host Fairfield in its first game on the newly renovated Owen T. Carroll field, and follow with Delaware on Sunday, Sept. 9. In the final weekend prior to beginning BIG EAST play, the Pirates will travel to Monmouth and Fordham on Friday, Sept. 14, and Sunday, Sept. 16, respectively.
Seton Hall will travel to rival Rutgers on Friday, Sept. 21 in its first BIG EAST contest of the season. Local non-league opponent Marist will sneak into the Pirates schedule on Sunday, Sept. 23, but Seton Hall resumes BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 28, when the team travels to nation’s capital to play Georgetown. The Pirates host Villanova on Sunday, Sept. 30 before the team goes on a four-game road stand.
The Pirates start the road stand with a trip up to Providence on Friday, Oct. 5, and ends the weekend at Connecticut on Sunday, Oct. 7. Seton Hall then travels west to Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 12, and to Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Seton Hall will close out its regular season with four home games, beginning with Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 19, the team’s first game under the lights of Owen T. Carroll field. Seton Hall then hosts St. John’s on Sunday, Oct. 21 to close out the weekend. In their final regular season weekend, the Pirates host nationally ranked Notre Dame in a night game on Friday, Oct. 26, and will play DePaul on Sunday, Oct. 28 in their final home game of the season.
