Women's Soccer Tops Marist 4-1

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Seton Hall received goals from Nicki Gross (Emerson, N.J), Ashley Reinecke (Toms River, N.J.), Alli Donofrio (Wayne, N.J.), and Katie Andreski (Wilkesboro, N.C.) to defeat Marist 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field. With the win, Seton Hall picked up their second straight victory.

Gross broke a scoreless tie in the 31st minute with a header off the corner kick from Madelene Kill (Marietta, Ga) for her third of the season.  Seven minutes later, Reinecke tallied her third of the season beating Marist goalkeeper Allison Lane low to the right side on another corner kick from Kill.  Kill finished the game with two assist.

The Pirates wasted no time after halftime when Donofrio netted her third of the season, and second in as many games, in the 47 minute mark, and Andreski scored her second of the season off an assist from Kaitlyn Rogers (Parker, Co) in the 53rd minute.

Amanda Becker (Aston, Pa) did not allow a goal in the 79 minutes she played making five saves.  Melanie Matera scored the Marist goal for her first of the season with 46 seconds remaining in the game, beating Erin St. Angelo (Piscataway, N.J.) in the top left corner.  St. Angelo made one save in 11 minutes.

Seton Hall finished with 14 shots to Marist’s nine, and also topped the Red Foxes in corner kicks 8-3 and fouls 6-5.

Seton Hall will continue their BIG EAST schedule when they travel to Georgetown on Friday, September 28.  Kick-off is set for noon.
