NOTRE DAME, IND. The Seton Hall women’s soccer team allowed three goals in each half as they fell to #1 Notre Dame, 6-0, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Pirates ended the 2008 regular season 5-11-2 overall and 1-9-1 in the conference.
Notre Dame (18-0, 11-0 BE) started the scoring in the 12th minute on a cross pass from Brittany Brock to Kerry Inglis who tapped the ball just inside the far post for her first goal of the year. Twenty minutes later, Melissa Henderson beat Pirates red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Bond (Glenside, Pa.) far post with a rebound for a Fighting Irish, 2-0, advantage.
Leading, 3-0, in the second half, Henderson tallied her second goal of the game and 15th of the season on a cross pass from Elise Weber, while Inglis also netted her second of the game in the 85th minute for the, 6-0, lead.
For the Pirates, freshmen Christina Cinelli (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Ashley Beamish (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the way with one shot each.
Seton Hall finished the game with nine fouls to Notre Dame’s seven, while Notre Dame led in corner kicks, 15-0.
