WEST POINT, N.Y. The Seton Hall women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday with a 6-0 thrashing of Sacred Heart at Army. The Pirates (1-1-0) set a tournament record for goals scored in a single game, breaking the previous mark of five.
Junior Katie Andreski (Wilkesboro, N.C.) got the Hall off and running in the 22nd minute, scoring from 10 yards out of an assist from sophomore Nicki Gross (Emerson, N.J.) to make it 1-0. SHU added one more score before halftime when junior Kaitlyn Rogers (Parker, Colo.) scored into an empty net, with sophomore Maddy Kill (Marietta, Ga.) picking up the assist.
The Pirates kept the momentum going out of the break when Andreski connected from 12 yards out in the 49th minute off a pass from freshman Taylor Wilson (Rahway, N.J.). Just over a minute later, senior Anne Anders (Berlin, Germany) scored off a rebound to make it 4-0.
In the 54th minute, Wilson notched her first collegiate goal with a one-timer from 10 yards out after taking a feed from Kill. Freshman Christina Cinelli (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) also scored her first goal off a rebound in the 66th minute that closed the scoring.
Sophomore Elizabeth Bond (Glenside, Pa.) picked up the win in net, making one save.
Anders, Andreski, and junior Megan Mills (Sykesville, Md.) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
