FAIRFIELD, CONN. The Seton Hall women’s soccer team was unable to recover from two first half goals as they lost to Fairfield, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.
In the 22nd minute Stags junior Casey Frobey made a cross-field pass finding senior Ahna Johnson who headed the ball just inside the post for a, 1-0, lead. In the 31st minute, Fairfield doubled that lead when freshman Jasmine Corniel scored an unassisted goal.
Freshman goaltender Kelly Boudreau made the score stand after saving all six shots on goal from the Pirates. Seton Hall had nine shots in total including two each from sophomore Nicki Gross (Emerson, N.J.) and freshman Taylor Wilson (Rahway, N.J.).
The Pirates (2-2) finished the game with three corner kicks to Fairfield’s two, and seven fouls to the Stags 15. Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Bond (Glenside, Pa.) made three saves off five shots on goal.
The Pirates will travel to Queens, N.Y. to participate in the St. John’s Tournament beginning Friday afternoon against Quinnipiac. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
