
Women's Soccer Blanked by DePaul, 2-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team was shutout for the third straight game after suffering a 2-0 defeat to DePaul on Friday night. The Pirates dropped to 4-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the BIG EAST.
The Blue Demons (8-5-2, 3-3) got on the board in the 18th minute after Tara Strickland found Callie Hemming on the right side. Hemming dribbled and faked out and SHU defender at the top of the box and fired a shot that beat Jennifer Pettigrew (Kearney, N.J.) top-left shelf for her first goal of the year.
In the 55th minute, the Pirates were called for a hand ball in their goal box, which led to a penalty shot. Strickland fired to the top-left of the goal for her fifth score of the season.
DePaul outshot Seton Hall, 8-6, and led the match in corner kicks, 7-2. Pettigrew made five saves in the defeat.
The Pirates return to action on Sunday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m. when they face off against #8-ranked Notre Dame at Owen T. Carroll Field.
