
Late Goal Sinks Women's Soccer At USF, 1-0

TAMPA, FLA. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team held USF scoreless until the 85th minute when Chelsea Klotz scored her fourth goal of the season to defeat the Pirates, 1-0, Friday evening. Despite the loss, Pirates' freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Pettigrew (Kearny, N.J.) made three saves.
Klotz was credited with the goal on her team-high third shot of the game, while Noelle Pineiro and Molly Stack were credited with the assists. Pettigrew's counterpart, Mallory Lofton-Malachi saved all four Pirates' shots to earn the shutout.
Sophomore Wiebke Balcke (Postdam, Germany) led the Pirates with two shots on goal while classmates Danielle Schulmann (Saddle River, N.J.) and Megan Mills (Sykesville, Md.) each ended with one.
USF (5-4-1, 2-1-1) finished with 10 total shots including six in the second half. The Pirates (4-6-1, 0-2-1) held a slight edge in corner kicks 3-2. Each team picked up a yellow card to add to their foul total of 10 for USF and eight for the Hall.
The Pirates return to action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Marquette. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
