CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team was unable to come back from a three goal first half deficit as they lost to Virginia, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Virginia Nike Classic Tournament. Despite the loss, freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Pettigrew (Kearny, N.J.) and senior defender Megan Mills (Sykesville, Md.) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Virginia (4-1-2) grabbed the early, 3-0, lead in the first 26 minutes of the game including two goals by Meghan Lenczyk. Lenczyk netted the first of two goals from 15 yards out in the 12th minute off a feed from Caitlyn Miskel, and would tally her second, and fifth of the season, in the 20th minute when her header off a cross from Amanda Fancher found the back of the net. Jess Rostedt scored the final goal of the half in the 26th minute when her shot from 12 yards beat Pettigrew.
The Pirates could not recover as they mustered only two total shots. Virginia goalkeeper, Chantel Jones, picked up the win while playing 80:17 of the 90 minute match.
Pettigrew took the loss in goal despite making three saves.
