SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team has earned a spot in the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast Region Rankings for the fifth time this season.
The Pirates come in at #8 after completing their best season since 1999, recording a 9-8-3 record overall and a 4-6-1 mark in conference play. SHU clinched its first BIG EAST Tournament home game since 1998 and won its second postseason game in program history with a dramatic 1-0 win against St. John's last Thursday.
Senior Ashley Beamish (Buffalo, N.Y.) fired two shots in succession in the 89th minute, with the second attempt proving to be the game winner. Her first attempt from 10-yards out sailed just over St. John's goalkeeper Lauren Ferris and off the cross bar back into play. Beamish came up with the rebound off the deflection and buried the ball into the left corner for her second score of the year.
