Women's Soccer Adds Rick Stainton as Assistant Coach

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall women's soccer head coach Kazbek Tambi announced today that Rick Stainton has been added to his staff as an assistant coach.
Stainton returns to Seton Hall with an impressive ledger of experience in women's soccer on both the youth and professional levels. The New Jersey native served as the assistant athletics director for facilities and operations and women's soccer program administrator at Seton Hall for more than two years prior to leaving to become the assistant/goalkeeper coach for the professional women's soccer team Sky Blue FC in March of 2010.
"I am extremely pleased to add a coach of Rick's experience and knowledge to our staff," Tambi said. "He has coached women's soccer at every rank, and his most recent work on the professional level will provide our team with a rare understanding of the most advanced science in training and tactical know-how."
In his role at Sky Blue FC, Stainton was in charge of all aspects of goalkeeper development as well as the development and implementation of off-season training programs, prospect identification, team travel coordination, equipment management and camp instruction.
In July of 2009, Stainton was promoted to head coach of Sky Blue FC where he oversaw all aspects of the organization including, but not limited to, the scouting of opponents, developing strategy, daily business management as well as handling player transactions and negotiations.
At Sky Blue FC, Stainton coached some of the best and brightest international superstars. U.S. National Team members Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, Heather O'Reilly and Christie Rampone all benefited from his tutelage. In all, 12 players who competed in the 2011 Women's World Cup were coached by Stainton.
Stainton possesses a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "B" License, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma and a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma and has coached at Rider University, Caldwell College and Green Mountain College, his alma mater.
Prior to his collegiate coaching stints, Stainton served as the head coach of the boys varsity soccer team at Brick Memorial High School for five years.
Proving his worth as a successful businessman and entrepreneur, Stainton also spent three years as the director of athletics at Saint Rose High School in Belmar, N.J. and currently serves as the owner and president of Stainton Sport Enterprises, a sports service business that specializes in all aspects of athletic logistics including instruction and training.
Stainton and his wife Amy have two daughters and currently reside in Brick, N.J.
Seton Hall will officially open the 2011 season vs. Fordham on Sunday, August 21. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Pirates will also host preseason exhibition games vs. Delaware and Fairleigh Dickinson on Aug. 12 and 15 respectively. Those games are also 7:00 p.m. starts.
