
Yael Averbuch Assists WSOC Team

Averbuch played for Tambi at the youth level before moving on to compete collegiately at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. At UNC, Averbuch won two NCAA College Cup titles, 2006 and 2008, and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy during her senior season in 2008 and was a three-time National Soccer Coaches of America First-Team All-American.
Averbuch assisted Tambi and the SHU Pirates for several weeks during their off season training program following Winter Break before being called up as one of 29 players selected to participate in the first USWNT Camp under new national team head coach Tom Sermanni.
On Feb. 9, in the first of two contests against Scotland, Averbuch replaced Shannon Boxx in the 66th minute to earn her 17th career cap and appear for the USWNT for the first time since a 2-0 win over China PR during the Four Nation's Tournament.
Averbuch's was drafted by Sky Blue FC of the WPS as the fourth overall pick in 2009, and played three seasons for the league. Playing for the Western New York Flash in 2011, she scored the winning penalty kick in the championship game to lift the Flash to the league title. Most recently she appeared in 10 games for Gӧteborg FC in Sweden, netting six goals.
