SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team will wrap up the 2015 campaign at home on Friday when the Pirates host Villanova in a match that will see four integral members of the squad in Melissa Blevins (Laurel Springs, N.J.), Amanda Gulli (Toms River, N.J.), Emily Hansinger (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and D'Yonna Riley (Washingtonville, N.Y.) honored prior to their final appearance in blue & white.
The decorated class of seniors will be recognized prior to a match in which The Hall (2-13-2, 1-7-0 BIG EAST) will be looking to extend a recent run of dominance in the series with rival Villanova (1-16-0, 0-8-0 BIG EAST).
Since the 2010 season, the Pirates have posted a 4-0-1 record in five meetings with the Wildcats, out-scoring VU, 11-to-0, durting that span. During 'Nova's most recent trip to South Orange - which came on Seton Hall Senior Day 2013 - SHU scored a resounding 5-0 victory. The five-goal gap stands as the second-largest margin of victory for The Hall over a BIG EAST opponent in program history.
Gulli and Riley have been at the center of the Pirates attack this season, ranking first and second on the team in shots on goal respectively. A hybrid offensive threat who has slotted in up top or in the midfield, Gulli is on pace to close the year as The Hall's leading scorer for a second consecutive season and heads into Friday's contest with a career-best four goals on the year.
Riley will finish her collegiate career with just shy of 70 appearances for the Pirates, many of which have come alongside her co-captain Hansinger and Blevins as part of a back line that has helped head coach Rick Stainton's side concede one goal or less in 11 of 17 BIG EAST matches since the beginning of last season.
The Wildcats come into Owen T. Carroll Field in search of their first conference victory of 2015 but the two squads will be meeting for the first time since finishing in a scoreless draw in Villanova last fall.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with a live stream available through the BIG EAST Digital Network and FOX Sports GO. Those planning to participate in Senior Day ceremonies should aim to arrive at least 40 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
