SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - With the 2015 campaign approaching, Seton Hall women's soccer head coach Rick Stainton has announced that the Pirates have added Freehold High School standout SarahGrace Johnson to a deep group of talented newcomers set to join the squad.
A Freehold native who also starred at the club level as a forward for the New Jersey Wildcats, Johnson is the 11th announced addition for The Hall heading into its second year under Stainton and the sixth in that group to hail from the state of New Jersey.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to add SarahGrace to our program," said Stainton. "On the field, she is an intelligent player with an ability to help create and finish scoring chances. Overall, SarahGrace is someone who has been a part of successful teams at every level and possesses the type of winning mentality we look to bring to each training session, and each match."
A two-time All-Shore honoree, Johnson put her proclivity for finding the back of the net on display throughout a distinguished career at Freehold where she teamed with fellow Seton Hall signee Sophia Duffy.
A four-year letterwinner on the pitch, Johnson finished with impressive tallies of 54 goals and 34 assists while helping Freehold to four consecutive division titles. Throughout her four years in a Colonials uniform, Johnson also helped Freehold record over 60 victories and advance to the conference semifinals on three occasions.
Elected as a team captain during her senior season, Johnson was also selected to wear the armband for a New Jersey Wildcats program that produced 15 other Division I commits in 2015.
A multi-sport athlete, Johnson also lettered in track and swimming. The Freehold product becomes the fourth member of the incoming class that identifies primarily as a forward with Stainton looking to bolster an attack that will also see five of the Pirates' seven goal scorers from a year ago return to action.
The new-look Seton Hall squad will make its first exhibition appearance on Thursday, August 13 at Delaware before returning to South Orange for a final tune-up against Iona three days later (1:00 p.m.).
The Hall will play its first four regular season matches away from home before hosting Duquesne on Friday, September 4. Kick-off for the home opener is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
