Pantelas Powers Pirates in Round Two at Jackrabbit

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – Junior Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) fired a 1-under-par, 71, in the second round of the 2017 Jackrabbit Invitational on Saturday, and has paced the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fourth place team standing.
Pantelas used four birdies to fuel her strong round. It's the third sub-par round of her career. For the tournament, Pantelas is tied for ninth place with a 6-over-par, 79-71-150. She trails the individual leader, South Dakota State's Teresa Toscano by nine strokes entering Saturday's final round.
Collectively, the Pirates shaved 16 strokes off their first round score to log a 10-over-par, 298, in round two. They are currently fourth with a 36-over-par, 314-298-612. South Dakota State is the current team leader at 12-over-par.
Just one stroke behind Pantelas is freshman Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.). Sager also had a strong second round, firing a 1-over-par, 73. Through two rounds, Sager is tied for 12th with a 7-over-par, 78-73-151.
Freshman Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) improved five strokes from round one to round two. She is currently tied for 20th place with an 11-over-par, 80-75-155. Two strokes behind Staudt is classmate Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio), who is tied for 22nd place at 13-over-par with a 78-79-157.
Rounding out the Seton Hall team scoring is Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.), who is 18-over-par with a 79-83-162.
Sophomores Jamie Greene (Troy, Mich.) and Gianna Tomeo (Bradenton, Fla.) are competing as individuals. Greene is currently 19-over-par with a 79-84-163, while Tomeo is 22-over-par with an 83-83-166.

The Course:
At Siena, the variety in the routing and pacing of holes will keep all levels of golfers entertained from opening tee shot to final tap-in. Siena features an ideal blend of doglegs and straightaway holes, a mix of slender and ample fairways, a balance between benign and rugged green complexes. Yet without exception, the course offers a host of shot-making options and plenty of grassy bail-out areas when the occasional shot gets away.
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host South Dakota State, the small field includes five other schools, CSU-Bakersfield, North Dakota State, Northern Michigan, South Dakota and Western Michigan.
Tee Times:
The field will play 36 continuous holes on Friday, followed by one final round on Saturday. The event will begin with a shotgun start on Friday at 10:30 a.m. ET. The shotgun start on Saturday will begin 30 minutes later at 11:00 a.m. ET.
