Pirates Come Up Short vs. St. John's, 1-0
10/21/2021 8:57:00 PM | Women's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Despite a strong second half performance that saw the Seton Hall women's soccer team tally four corner kicks, including three with under eight minutes to play, the Pirates couldn't get past St. John's as the Red Storm came out with a 1-0 victory on Thursday evening at Owen T. Carroll Field.
Freshman Sophie Liston (Newcastle West, Ireland) provided a spark early offensively where she registered a shot on goal in the 11th minute and made a nice move that pulled the keeper well off her line but Liston's pass couldn't connect.
The Red Storm tallied in the 43rd minute and despite a shot on goal by senior Emma Ramsay (Mississauga, Ontario) late in the first half, the Pirates couldn't equalize. The Hall made one final push in the latter stages of the second half sparked by a staunch defensive effort. In the final eight minutes, the Pirates had three corner kick opportunities and senior Dani Brinckman (Glastonbury, Conn.) was able to get a header attempt out of one of them but it wasn't enough.
Quick Kicks
The Pirates will host Senior Day against Georgetown on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Owen T. Carroll Field.
