NEW YORK – The Seton Hall women's soccer team fell in a hard-fought battle at Columbia, 2-0, on Friday evening.

Freshman Cara Milne-Redhead (Clitheroe, England) had a team-best three shots on goal, and five shots overall, but they couldn't find the back of the Columbia net. Four other Pirates also had a single shot on goal.

The contest was evenly played until the 27th minute when Columbia's Madi Pilla found teammate Sophia Cavaliere in front of the goal from 12 yards out. Cavaliere one-timed it into the upper right corner of the goal. In the second half, it was a successful penalty kick by Nata Ramirez in the 71st minute that provided the Lions their insurance.

Pirate goalkeeper Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) made some impressive stops, totaling four saves in the contest.
