Freshman Cara Milne-Redhead had a team-best three shots on goal and five shots overall.

NEW YORK – The Seton Hall women's soccer team fell in a hard-fought battle at Columbia, 2-0, on Friday evening.

Freshman Cara Milne-Redhead (Clitheroe, England) had a team-best three shots on goal, and five shots overall, but they couldn't find the back of the Columbia net. Four other Pirates also had a single shot on goal.

The contest was evenly played until the 27^th minute when Columbia's Madi Pilla found teammate Sophia Cavaliere in front of the goal from 12 yards out. Cavaliere one-timed it into the upper right corner of the goal. In the second half, it was a successful penalty kick by Nata Ramirez in the 71^st minute that provided the Lions their insurance.

Pirate goalkeeper Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) made some impressive stops, totaling four saves in the contest.

Seton Hall falls to 5-3, while Columbia improves to 4-2-1.
Seton Hall put more shots on goal, 7-to-6, but Columbia had more shots overall, 14-to-13.
Columbia had nine corner kicks, compared to five for the Pirates.
Seton Hall committed six fouls, while Columbia had 11.
The Pirates have now completed the non-conference portion of their schedule.
