Hall Falls to Hoyas on the Road
10/22/2015 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Seton Hall women's soccer team played its final road match of the season on Thursday afternoon, falling to Georgetown, 4-0, in the nation's capital.
The Hall (2-12-2, 1-6-0 BIG EAST) conceded just one goal in the first half but the Pirates were unable to overcome a second half surge from the Hoyas who improved to 10-5-1 overall and 5-1-1 in league play with the result.
Freshman Anna MacLean (Thunder Bay, Ontario) made her ninth start of the season and stopped a free kick from 20 yards out in the 18th minute but Georgetown's Melissa Downey alertly headed home the rebound to open the scoring.
Sophomore Laura Dramis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) filled in capably for MacLean between the posts in what was her first collegiate appearance but Downey and set pieces proved to be a thorn in the Pirates side throughout the afternoon.
In the 60th minute, Downey was on the spot again following another free kick and stretched the gap to two with her second of the day. Six minutes later, a short corner played by the Hoyas led to a loose ball in the area and Downey was able to slot home a third.
Grace Damaska converted off a pass from Rachel Corboz in the 69th to account for the Hoyas' fourth and final goal.
Turning Point
Georgetown's Crystal Thomas drew a foul just outside the area that led to a free kick from a dangerous area which produced Downey's first strike

Inside The Numbers

- Dramis finished with three stops in over 72 minutes of action in her Seton Hall debut
- Dramis is the fourth keeper to see action for The Hall this season and the third that has taken the field during conference play
News & Notes
- Seton Hall was without freshman Eva Gonzalez (Mesquite, Texas) who is away from the squad due to being called back into the Mexico U20 side. Gonzalez has recorded two assists in 13 appearances this season, tied for the most on the team.
