Seton Hall will close out the regular season with two matches at home

PROVIDENCE -- Despite finishing with comparable statistics offensively, Providence proved to be too much for the Seton Hall women's soccer team as the Pirates dropped a 4-0 decision on the road on Sunday.

PC edged The Hall on shots, 18-15, and corner kicks, 7-5, but both squads posted eight shots on goal. Junior Emily Arellano (Wadsworth, Ohio) led the Pirates with three shots on goal and seniors Dani Brinckman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Laura Hooper (Watford, England) both had two a piece.

With rain pouring down, the Pirates gave up an early goal but created multiple chances offensively before the half where the Friars led, 2-0. Seton Hall still trailed by two early in the second half when a corner kick off the foot of Hooper led to two shots on goal inside the 18-yard box by Brinckman and Arellano, respectively, but both were stopped by the Providence keeper.

Hooper, Brinckman, Arellano, sophomore Abbie Roberts (Bedfordshire, England) and keeper Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) played the full 90 minutes.

The Pirates will return home to finish out the regular season starting with Connecicut at 11 a.m. on Friday at Owen T. Carroll Field.
