MORE TAVANA MAGIC?
- Senior Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn.) will look to build off of her magical junior season where she was named All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year.
- Tavana was Seton Hall's first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year since SHU Athletics Hall of Famer Kelly Smith earned the honor in 1999 and she was the Pirates' first All-BIG EAST First Team pick since 2013.
- Tavana was also tabbed United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-East Region, the Pirates' first all-region selection since 2013.
- Her single season point (26) and goal totals (12) both rank fourth in a single season in Seton Hall history.
- She enters the season tied for fourth in program history with 42 career points and 17 career goals.
- Tavana is also tied for seventh all-time with eight career assists.
- Arguably the most skilled player on the squad is at centerback in 2023 All-BIG EAST Third Team selection Chiara Pucci (Munich, Germany).
- The senior, who hasn't scored yet in her collegiate career, scored in the Pirates' exhibition game against Monmouth off of a set piece.
- She's played nearly 4,500 minutes in her career and has started 51 matches and played in 54.
- She's a team captain along with Tavana for the second year in a row.
- Pucci and Tavana gave Seton Hall its first season with multiple All-BIG EAST selections since 2013.
- Out of 333 Division I women's soccer programs, Seton Hall 2024 recruiting class was ranked 50th in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
- Osit has had strong ties nationally and in the Tri-State area going back to his days on the recruiting trail as an assistant coach at Columbia and Rutgers.
- Midfielder Olivia Beavois (Windsor, Conn.), defender Kylie Ray (Hampden, Mass.) and other freshmen are expected to see the pitch early in the season.
- Head coach Josh Osit inherited a Seton Hall women's soccer program that had tallied just 12 points in BIG EAST play the previous four seasons.
- The Pirates have registered 14 points in the BIG EAST standings in the two seasons since he's taken over including 10 points last season, the most for the program since 2011.
- Seton Hall earned two results against ranked opponents last season against No. 24 Xavier and No. 12 Georgetown, marking the first time since becoming a varsity program in 1994 that the Pirates have taken a point against multiple ranked opponents in the same season.
